Contraception is abortion?

  • Aug. 20th, 2008 at 11:35 AM

I received this from a friend and just find it appalling.  Please pass this on and take a moment to express your thoughts of how wrong this is, unless you feel it is the way to go and and I respect that as we live a in country that is amazing in letting people have their own thoughts about all the different matters.

I know this is unusually patriotic for me but "I love America" and the freedom that we have....just don't get me started on the freedom we don't really have....esp if the current president is able to make this happen.

Hi,

I had to share something with you. Can you imagine living in a place where birth control is considered an "abortion" and health insurers won't cover it? Where even rape victims are denied emergency contraception?

It seems unbelievable, but the Bush Administration is quietly trying to redefine "abortion" to include birth control. The Houston Chronicle says this could wipe out dozens of state laws that protect women's reproductive freedom and protect rape victims. And this proposed "rule change" doesn't need congressional approval.

I just signed a message to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, whose department is considering this rule change, telling him: "Contraception is NOT abortion." Can you add your voice to this cause? Click here to sign the message: http://pol.moveon.org/contraception/?r_by=-10101140-BM7dH.x&rc=confemail

Thanks!

Busy vs. Active

  • Jun. 5th, 2008 at 7:49 AM

Due to a conversation I had in my dream last night, I have a question for everyone.

What are your definitions of busy and of active?

My friends are always saying “I know your busy and all….” however I don’t see myself as busy, but rather living an active life. There are days that I am busy but in an overall look at thing I don’t see myself as “busy”.

So in the dream I was halving tea with a judge (the English kind with the back robes and white wig…it was quite fun) and he was going on how the world views me a busy and he wanted me to present a counter to the case. (I was kind of on trial but not…ah leave it to dream to be muddled and confusing)

Well I presented my case of busy vs. active, and before a ruling came I woke up. SO! I leave it to my friend to provide me with their definitions of busy and active….not the books definition, but yours! And this is not a question directly about me, but what the population’s views of these words.   I have my stand on things, but what about you????

Okay, I put it out there......

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Okay...not to be a real pain, but I'm very tired of cleaning up after other people.  This morning I came into work and the mess that has been in the kitchen for over a week is still there!  I know that if I just lower my standards I'd fit in with the rest of the world....but is it that hard in a community space to clean your freaking dishes.  Most of my frustration comes from the fact that I've been spending the vast part of this week cleaning HORRID web code which is time consuming and makes the eyes hurt so my patience is running thin.

I just wish people would be aware that there are others around them who might like to have a clean kitchen.

Probably I could go on for hours about this but I've got code to work on.  Perhaps I should start an advocacy group that aids people in learning about social awareness....especially at the movie theater!  Now that is a topic I can't touch right now as I'd get so enraged I'd probably break my keyboard typing....ugh :P

My SmallSword final went really well last night :D

Rich and I were the first pair to go so it was over in no time and I even had the though as I was prepping for the third phrase "are we at this point already”, for a nanosecond I thought I’d forgotten something but I realized that we were right on the mark.  It is kind of anti climatic to have worked for so long and so hard on something that is over in less than 2 minutes, but that is the art form I love :P

One point of frustration came from the only note the adjudicator gave me which was that my death did got give enough for the moment in the scene.....but I never got to rehearse my death in class.  It is a very valid note, but I kind of wish my teacher had taken a look at that aspect of the fight too instead of the technique.  Well, now I know that I need to do some research in the different ways one can die from a sword wound.

Anywho, I'm good for another three years and should be getting my brand spanking new SmallSword in the next few weeks!

Ugh....Monday

  • Mar. 24th, 2008 at 8:49 AM

So I'm starting to feel like weekends are really not for relaxing and enjoying one's time.  I spent all weekend running around to appointments, classes, meetings,  two very fun social gatherings and then to my parents to clean, clean and clean some more.  We got home last night at 9:30pm and I was out cold by 10pm......only to wake up and feel exhausted and really wondering if I'm going to have the energy I need for the SPR tonight.  I think we need a weekend for the weekend, anyone know who I should talk to about that :P

On the fun side I had another crazy fun dream last night.  It was a cross over of Buffy and a B horror film.  I was back at my High School and there was a very strange demon that had possessed the school.  I had to sneak around from room to room killing things and finding my friends, though I got really fixated with the type of sludge that was on the pool and ended up getting ensnared myself....let me tell you fighting living pant roots is not an easy task.  And apparently I yelled out in my sleep "Casey you have to make sure Sue is alright"  I have no memory of this nor do I have a friend named Sue.....odd :P

Well here is to exhausted Monday's and hoping work is not too painful (I sure hope there are no living roots there!).

It's Me!
